Get in touch

Email [email protected]. Squared is made by one person, so replies come by hand — usually within a few days. Swedish or English, whichever you prefer.

When reporting a problem, it helps to include your device and iOS or Android version, the app version, what you expected to happen, and what happened instead. If it concerns a particular group or expense, say which — the name is enough. Never send your password; nobody at Squared will ask for it.

Common questions

How does the splitting work?

You record who paid, the total amount, and who took part. The app then works out each person's share — split equally, by exact amounts, by percentage, or by shares — and keeps a running balance between everyone in the group. Squared is not a payment app: it tracks what people owe each other, and the money itself moves outside it.

How do I sign in?

With Sign in with Apple, or with an email address and a password of at least eight characters.

I forgot my password

There is no self-service password reset in the app yet. Email [email protected] from the address you signed up with and your account will be restored by hand. If you originally signed in with Apple, use that button again — there is no password on the account at all.

How do I get someone into my group?

Open the group and share an invitation. It works either as a link or as an eight-character code the other person types in — the code avoids the letters I, L, O and U, so it survives being read aloud. An invitation can expire, be limited to a number of uses, or be revoked; if one stops working, ask for a fresh one.

An expense was paid in another currency

Enter it in the currency you actually paid. Squared converts it to the group's currency at the rate on the day it is saved, and keeps both figures — so the balance adds up in one currency while the original amount stays visible. Notifications quote the amount as it was paid.

How do we settle up?

When someone pays a debt, they record it — through Swish, or as paid some other way. The person receiving the money confirms it, and only then does the balance clear. That way one person cannot mark a debt settled on their own. If a payment is waiting on someone, a reminder can be sent; reminders are rate-limited, so a second nudge has to wait.

Notifications

Turn them on or off under Notiser in your profile, or in your device's system settings. They cover activity in your groups — new expenses, settlements, and requests waiting on you.

Can I leave a group?

Yes, once you are square with everyone in it — the app blocks leaving while your balance is anything other than zero, because a departure would rewrite what the others owe. The group's owner cannot leave at all; an owner who is finished with a group deletes it instead.

How do I delete my account?

Profile → Radera konto. Your credentials, name, email, phone number and profile picture are erased, groups nobody else is in are deleted outright, and in groups other people are still using, your expenses stay on as “Borttaget konto” — they are the record of what the others owe each other. The privacy policy sets this out in full.

Where is my data, and who can see it?

Members of a group see each other's names, pictures and entries in that group; nobody outside it sees anything. There are no ads, no analytics and no trackers. The privacy policy lists every category of data and every provider involved.

Something is broken

Bug reports are welcome and get read. Before writing, it is worth checking that the app is up to date in the App Store or Play Store — and, if something looks stale rather than wrong, closing and reopening the app, which refetches everything from the server.
